Major Changes to College Planning

New rules around the 529 plans and other college contributions, how multiple students in college are treated, financial aid for divorced families, and more. Certain middle- and upper-income families will qualify for less financial aid as a result and will need to plan differently.

Colleges have also shifted their admission and scholarship policies to favor certain criteria. Learn about these changes to help families successfully navigate the process and minimize debt.

Join us on Zoom for a deep dive into the complex process of planning for college tuition and expenses. Planners with kids or clients who have kids will find this presentation very valuable.

Advisors will learn:

  • Why college is so much harder to pay for today vs. 30 years ago;
  • The difference between need-based aid and merit-based aid;
  • What the impact has been on college search and pricing Test Optional, Secure Act, and FAFSA changes.

Application for continuing education has been filed with CFP Board.

Cost is $25. All proceeds will go toward FPA of Florida Advocay efforts.
